Clear local storage from your account page

If the portal is showing you something out of date — a screen that won't refresh, a setting that reverted, a panel stuck on old information — clearing local storage usually fixes it.

Important
If you carry out inspections in the field, stop and read this first. Offline inspection results are held on your device until they sync. Clearing local storage while results are unsynced can lose them permanently, and this cannot be undone. Get back on a connection, confirm everything has synced, and only then use this. If you're not sure whether it has synced, ask the office before clearing anything.
01
When to try this
  • A page shows old information even after you reload it
  • A preference or setting you changed doesn't stick
  • A screen looks half-loaded, or a panel stays empty when it shouldn't
  • Something worked yesterday and looks wrong today, with no other explanation

If you're having trouble signing in, this isn't the fix. See Sign-in problems.

02
Clear it
1
Sign in to your portal.
2
Select your name in the top-right of the navigation bar. A menu opens.
3
Choose My Account.
4
The Contact Information section opens. Scroll down past it.
5
Select the Clear Local Storage button, just above the Edit Contact Information button.

That's it — there's no confirmation step and nothing to save. Reload the page and check whether the problem is gone.

03
What this actually does

Your browser keeps a small store of information for the portal so screens load faster and remember how you left them. That store is called local storage, and it lives on your own device, not on the portal.

Occasionally that stored copy gets out of step with what's actually true. Clearing it makes the portal fetch everything fresh next time.

What is not affected: your account, your contact details, your applications, your documents, your payments, and your inspection records. Clear Local Storage doesn't delete anything from your record and doesn't submit any change. It clears a cache on your own computer, and the portal rebuilds it as you use it.

The exception is anything not yet sent to the portal. Work done offline lives on your device until it syncs — most people never encounter this, but inspectors working in the field do. If you have unsynced work, clearing local storage discards it. See the warning at the top.

It's reversible in the only sense that matters — there is nothing to undo. If clearing it doesn't help, you've lost nothing but the fifteen seconds.

If you're signed out afterwards, sign back in as normal. Nothing has gone missing.

04
If it didn't help

Work through these in order, stopping when the problem goes away.

  1. Reload the page properly — hold Shift while you click reload, which makes the browser fetch the page rather than reuse its own copy.
  2. Try a private or incognito window. If the portal behaves correctly there, the cause is still something stored on your device — go to step 3. If it behaves the same way, the cause is elsewhere, and it's worth reporting.
  3. Clear your browser's saved data, which is a wider version of the same idea. See Clear your browser's saved data.
  4. Try a different browser. This separates a browser problem from a portal problem faster than anything else.

Still wrong after all four? Report it — and say that you've already cleared local storage and tried another browser. That single sentence saves a round of questions. Use the contact details shown on your portal.

Not the same as clearing your browser data

Two different things, easy to confuse:

Start with Clear Local Storage. It's narrower, faster, and it won't sign you out of your bank.
