GeoCivix System Update Notice
Dear GeoCivix Administrators,
We are pleased to announce several GeoCivix system enhancements scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026. This release introduces Inspection Zones and a new GeoCivix Announcements and Notification Preferences experience, along with improvements to fees, workflows, GIS, accessibility, and other portal functions.
Update Summary
Date: Friday, October 30th
What You Need to Do: Nothing
Risk Level: Low
Key Enhancements
Inspection Zones
You can now assign zones (such as floors, buildings, or units) when adding a required inspection to a project.
Each zone creates a separate inspection that can be scheduled and marked as Passed, Failed, or Partially Passed independently.
Zone names entered in the Add Required Inspection window. Saving creates one inspection for each zone.
GeoCivix Announcements and Notification Preferences
GeoCivix now delivers maintenance notices, release notes, product news, and feedback invitations through email and in-app notifications (notification bell). All announcements are also available under Support > Announcements.
A new Notification Preferences page, accessible from your user menu, allows you to manage all notification settings in one place.
The new Notification Preferences Page, with GeoCivix announcement categories below your other notifications.
Announcements on the Support page, where every past announcement stays available.
Permit Fee Waivers and Added Fees
The Waive action on a permit fee now works correctly. It is unavailable when a payment has already been applied, and an explanatory message appears when a fee cannot be waived.
Fees can now be added to issued, expired, or stopped permits, but not closed or revoked permits.
The Fees tab of an issued permit, with Waive on each Unpaid Fee available.
GeoCivix Staff Hidden from Staff Lists
GeoCivix staff accounts no longer appear as selectable reviewers or inspectors in assignment lists and filters, although existing assignments remain visible.
Return to Your Page After Single Sign-On
After a timed-out session, signing back in through single sign-on now returns users to their previous page rather than the home page.
Required Responses to Open Issues
When a workflow requires applicant responses to open issues before resubmittal, that requirement is now enforced consistently. Issues marked Recommendation do not require responses.
Project-level response settings are retained when workflows are edited, and workflow changes to or from Not Available update affected projects.
Unsubmitted Application Message
Applicants who have paid fees or uploaded documents without completing submission now see a clear notice that their application has not been submitted and a prompt to Resume Application Submittal.
Project Access Request Links Fix
Project access request emails now link to the correct owning portal, even when the request was initiated while signed into another portal.
Waive Review Fix
Waive Review now completes the waiver and refreshes the project instead of leaving the review action buttons on screen.
Location Map Fixes
Three fixes to the location map on application forms and the project summary.
Registration Messages on the Sign-In Page
The Registration Complete confirmation is restored. People attempting to register an email with an existing active account now see an explanation and password-reset link.
The message on the sign-in page when someone registers with an email address that already has an active account.
Fee Type Uses Count Fix
Fee Types now counts usage in workflow automations, shows those workflows in the usage list, and warns about existing uses before deletion.
The Uses count on the fee Types page, which now includes fees charged by workflow automations.
Keyboard Access for Help Icons
The question-mark help icons on forms can now be reached with the Tab key and opened with Enter, and screen readers read their help text aloud. This supports WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines.
A help icon reached with the Tab key, showing its focus outline and the help text it opens.
Visible Keyboard Focus on Checkboxes
Checkboxes now show a visible focus outline when navigated with a keyboard.

Full Project Title in Email Subjects
Emails sent using project-summary envelope icons now include the full project title without truncated text or empty tracking-number labels.
Inspection Activity Time Display
For inspections scheduled after this release, the Activity tab displays the appointment time consistently with inspection details, including AM or PM when no exact time is set.
Webhook Project Stage Fix
Workflow webhooks now report the new project stage when an automation changes the stage during the same workflow step.
New GIS Upload File Types
GIS file geodatabase (.gdb) and layer package (.lpkx) files can now be uploaded wherever documents are accepted.
Improved Contrast on Section Headings
Expandable section headings now use darker colors to improve readability and accessibility contrast.
That’s all folks!
