Dear Administrators,

This is an early reminder that beginning Monday, October 12, GeoCivix will introduce a new login experience for everyone who accesses the system.

We will also introduce optional Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), allowing each client to decide whether to enable this additional layer of security for their portal and registered users.

New Login Screen Experience

GeoCivix will introduce a redesigned login screen. This updated screen will now, starting next Monday, appear for everyone who signs in to GeoCivix.

I – How to Customize Your Login Screen Image

Clients may customize the image displayed on their login screen through Site Configuration or request assistance from the GeoCivix Support and Implementation teams. Clients are responsible for providing the image and ensuring its size and orientation work well across multiple screen sizes.

II – How to Customize Your Login Screen Background Color

Clients may customize the background color displayed behind their logo or request assistance from the GeoCivix Support and Implementation teams.

Optional Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication will remain inactive and will not be visible to users unless it is enabled under the Two-Factor Authentication section in Site Configuration. You are welcome to request assistance from the GeoCivix Support and Implementation teams if you need to, they are ready to assist you.

Once enabled, clients can choose how 2FA will apply:

  • Optional: Users may set up 2FA themselves by signing in and navigating to My Account > Security. Clients may also require 2FA only for selected user groups, such as Site Administrators.
  • Required for Staff: All internal staff users must set up and use 2FA. This requirement does not apply to applicants or other registered public users.
  • Required for Everyone: Everyone who signs in to the portal must set up and use 2FA.

I - Trusted Devices

Clients may also decide whether users can identify a browser as a trusted device. When this option is enabled, the browser will be remembered for 30 days, reducing how often the user must complete the additional 2FA verification step when signing in.

II – Available Two-Factor Authentication Methods

Users may set up Two-Factor Authentication using any of the following methods:

  • Authenticator app – such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. This is the recommended option because it provides greater flexibility across multiple devices and browsers.
  • Passkey — managed through the user’s operating system and browser.
  • Email
  • SMS text message

Users may configure multiple methods to provide backup sign-in options. For example, a user could select a passkey as the primary method and an authenticator app as a backup.
