Importing and Managing Toolsets

For a standard implementation, idtPlans will provide your organization with a standardized, color-coded tool set for each discipline. It is important that users import or add these toolsets into their Bluebeam profile prior to training.

Toolsets provided by idtPlans should not be modified. Instructions for managing toolsets are available on the Bluebeam Support Page.

Users completing their plan review in Blubeam should limit themselves to the following text comment types only (provided in the toolsets provided by idtPlans):

  • Text Box
  • Cloud Callout
  • Standard Callout

Open Bluebeam and expand the left-side menu, where document and tool management is handled. Look for the tool chest icon and click on it:

To manage your tools, you'll click on the drop down arrow next to the words Tool Chest:

Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select Manage Tool Sets which opens the Tool Set Manager.

TO ADD A NEW TOOLSET

Click Add. The Add Tool Set dialog box appears.

Select New and enter the Title of the tool set.

  • To show the new tool set in the Tool Chest, select Display.
  • To show the new tool set in all Profiles, select Show In All Profiles.
  • To store the location to this tool set relative to the location of the current Profile, select Relative Path. Uncheck this option to save the full folder path to the tool set instead.
  • Click OK. You will be prompted to choose a location to save the new tool set. Choose an appropriate location and then click Save.

Once the new tool set is created it will appear as an empty set in your tool chest display. You can now add tools to your new tool set by dragging and dropping existing tools from other tools sets, or creating brand new markups and saving them to the new tool set.

Be sure to save your tool set any time you add or modify tools.

TO IMPORT AN EXISTING TOOLSET

Click Import. Your file manager will appear. Navigate to the tool set on your drive (it must be saved to your drive in order to import) and click
 Open.
